School Supplies
When the school supply ads start dominating the newspaper, one knows school is about to begin.   Gretchen and I have been back a little more each week preparing for the coming school year.  The first thing I want to address is the matter of school supplies.  Apparently last year families gave the school $25 for the school to provide the supplies for the year.  The teachers are already purchasing under that assumption. I do think it is a service our teachers can provide and save you both time and money.  But I also know money can be a difficult issue.  This is my suggestion:  for those families that can afford $25 per child, please drop the money by some time by the start of school on September 8th (a Wednesday).  If you don’t agree with this approach, or cannot afford
it, please let us know and we will cover it through donations.  If you wish to donate so as to help others, we happily accept that as well. One additional point for you to know – when there is a universal community supply of supplies in a classroom, numerous problems are avoided that cause children embarrassment or stress.

Your child’s safety and happiness are primary for us.  That will always be the case.

New Guy in Town

Be sure to stop by room 4 to introduce yourselves to our new grades 4/5 teacher Tom Day.  Tom brings a wealth of knowledge and energy to Muddy Creek and we are lucky to have him on our team.

School Year Calendar

Muddy Creek runs on the 509J District calendar for in-service and holidays.  Please reference this calendar throughout the year for planning.  The calendar is available at

http://www.csd509j.net/district_information/calendar/2010-2011%20calendar.pdf

Hard copies are available in the office at Muddy Creek.

Afternoon Adventures

We are in the process of hiring an Afternoon Adventures Leader for the 2010-11 school year.  We are looking for a parent that will be using or has used this program to join us on the interview committee.  Please contact Muddy Creek if you are interested.

Open House

Come meet your fellow students and parents at the MCCS Open House for the 2010 school year.  On September 7th, from 4 to 5:30pm the staff will be available to try and answer your last minute questions as you get ready for the first day of school the next day.  This visit may also be a good time to finish handing in any last minute registration paperwork and paying for supplies.

Milk Cards

Muddy Creek does not have a lunch program.  Students bring their own lunch and snacks to school each day.  We do however provide milk to students for 25 cents.  MILK CARDS may be purchased in the main office for $5 per card (10 milks).  Many families purchase a few milk cards at a time so their child does not run out.  On Fridays the students have the option of choosing chocolate milk, which is very popular.

Newsletters

Muddy Creek sends out an email newsletter weekly beginning NOW!  Please let us know if you are not able to read the email and also if there are topics you would like covered in this forum.
